Choose what the buyer will do with the PNG
A PNG can be useful for a printable illustration, a digital collage, or artwork placed in a larger design. Those buyers need different things. Write down one intended use before choosing dimensions, packaging, or preview images.
A raster file has a fixed number of pixels. Enlarging it does not add detail. If buyers need paths for a cutting machine or artwork they can scale freely, a PNG may be the wrong deliverable. Do not add SVG to the title unless the download contains a real, tested SVG.
Use your own design and check the rights to any fonts, references, or other inputs. Etsy's rules describe the kinds of seller-designed work it permits. A technically valid image does not establish permission to sell it.
Inspect the file the buyer will receive
Open the exported PNG, rather than the working document. Read its pixel dimensions and inspect it at full size. A file called transparent.png can still have a white rectangle behind the artwork.
View the image over both light and dark backgrounds. Look for pale halos, clipped details, stray pixels, and partly transparent areas that should be solid. Check small lettering at the intended use size. A thumbnail can hide defects that buyers will see when they print.
Pixel dimensions and DPI metadata answer different questions. A 3000-pixel side corresponds to 10 inches at 300 pixels per inch. That calculation does not prove print quality, color accuracy, or compatibility with a particular material. Test those separately before advertising them.
Listsy prepares a 3000 x 3000 transparent PNG with 300 DPI metadata. Its technical checks cover the file contract. You still review the artwork and any claims about how buyers can use it.

A buyer ZIP with clear contents
For an illustrative single-design package, upload summer-floral-png.zip. The buyer extracts it to find the artwork and a short README. These filenames are examples, not a download from a customer order. Check the actual files before making any size or format claim.
If the archive exceeds 20 MB, inspect it for duplicate exports, mockups, and working files. Remove anything the buyer should not receive, then test the ZIP again. ZIP compression may not shrink an already-compressed PNG much. Do not reduce quality blindly; if the package changes, update the listing too.
| Inside the ZIP | What it contains |
|---|---|
| summer-floral.png | One 3000 x 3000 transparent PNG with 300 DPI metadata |
| README.txt | File details, extraction instructions, and the seller's actual usage terms |
Show the file without confusing it with a physical product
Make the artwork easy to see in the first image. Include a readable detail view and a clear explanation of the download. If you show a shirt, mug, or other mockup, say that the purchase is a digital file and that no physical item ships.
Use previews to answer actual questions. Show the design's edges, explain the included file type, and state its checked dimensions. Avoid adding decorative mockups that make buyers guess what they receive.
Listsy lets you select 1 to 20 listing images, with five selected by default. Review each image for changed lettering, missing details, and misleading product context. Reorder the gallery around what a buyer needs to understand first.
Write the listing from the checked package
Name the artwork and its intended use in plain words. Then state the file count, format, dimensions, delivery method, and your actual usage terms. Keep the promises narrow enough that the package can deliver them.
For the illustrative summer-floral package above, a description could read: One transparent PNG, 3000 x 3000 pixels, supplied in a ZIP with a README. No physical item, SVG, or editable source file is included. This is an editorial example. Replace its details with measurements from your own download.
If AI helped create the artwork, include an accurate notice in the listing description. Etsy requires disclosure for AI-created items. Listsy's generated copy adds an AI notice, which you review against the actual creation process.
Test the download before you publish
Download or copy the final attachment into a clean folder, extract it, and open every buyer file. Check that the filenames, file count, and instructions match the listing. Keep working exports, private references, prompts, and listing mockups out of the package unless they are explicitly part of the purchase.
For an instant download, attach the buyer files to the digital listing. Review the draft's price, category, images, description, and attachment names in Etsy. Listsy's draft checks cover named technical fields; they do not replace your final review or establish Etsy approval.
If Etsy rejects an attachment for size, diagnose that file before changing the artwork. Removing an accidental duplicate can solve a package problem without reducing the buyer's image quality.
